When clients are relocating to Las Cruces one of their most common questions is, "What is there to do in Las Cruces?"

When I relocated to Las Cruces from California one of the most attractive features was
New Mexico State University.

NMSU offers many opportunities but what I like best is the 4-H program. As a former 4-H leader, I speak from experience when I say that it is a valuable resource for families in the community. Organized by the Dona Ana County Extension Office, 4-H is a program that offers children age 5 to 19 free education in food and agriculture.
I really appreciate 4-H because it teaches children important skills when it comes to diet, animals, gardening and socializing.

The Dona Ana County Extension Office also has programs for adults. The Master Gardener program provides the community accurate gardening and horticultural information through its many programs and projects. It also has a hotline that you can use to get answers to any question you have about gardening in southern New Mexico.

NMSU also has year-round sporting events. Our men's basketball team went to the
NCAA tournament in 2009. We have great women's volleyball and softball teams. The men's baseball teamis competitive year after year, and watching NMSU football is always fun.

When it comes to art, NMSU has a
bright future. In July the school broke ground on the first phase of the Center for the Arts. This new area of campus will move all art programs together in one place. It is exciting because it encourages collaboration and provides the community easier access to the many creative endeavors on campus.

The last feature I will mention is continuing education. Throughout the year NMSU offers courses, presentations, and special events. For instance, NMSU hosts an annual energy summit that attracts hundreds of residents and non-residents to learn more about the future of energy production in southern
New Mexico.

While you can find many great ways to occupy your time in Las Cruces I think the university offers some of the best. NMSU is a feature that ties the community together.

NMSU also offers great opportunities for investors. Homes near the university make great investments because these homes are ideal for students. If you have a child going to NMSU they can also be great investments for you. Buying a home for your child to live in turns your housing expenses in an investment. After 4 years (or more) of college you can then sell the property or keep renting it to other students.

I have a great property listed at $80,000 that would be an excellent investment. Take a look at 462 Purdue Ct. and let me know if you are interested in taking advantage of a great opportunity like this.
